Bruins don't have to trade Reilly. They can keep him at least until late November. That being said, they could do this too.

Ya that’s a hard pass from boston.

I’m guessing the decision to waive reilly was really difficult in the first place. The only reason to do it is if it frees up the full $3M.

And there was no takers for Reilly for free they can retain a little bit and get 2 million plus in cap space for a pick

I don’t think you’re really understanding the logic here.

It’s my opinion that it was a really tough decision to waive reilly in the first place, as his value is somewhere right around his contract.

Moving him out would mean another player takes that roster spot, likely earning less. Retaining on reilly to move him out means the savings are so minimal, i don’t think theres any chance the bruins would even consider it.

It was likely only done so they can send him down, shift guys to LTIR, and then call him back up.
