Previous assessment: https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/3697528

Explanation of Tiers:
- LW: I am projecting them to play NHL games. Could be a handful of games or a future all-star, but that's not the point of this assessment.
- C: Coin flip as to whether they will belong in the LW or RW column.
- RW: They need to find another gear in their development to see NHL games but possess enough talent to the point where it's possible.
- LD: I have written off their chances of playing NHL games. It is still possible, but they really need to find a higher gear.
- RD: Have not seen enough of them to make a judgement. Probably would fall in RW or LD column.

Misc:
-- I don't graduate players during the season (but Perbix is NHLer confirmed).
-- I don't know how Day went from trending upward in '20, to exceptional in '21, and now he's the definition of mediocrity. He's lost some opportunity to other d-men in Syracuse, but he just does not look the same as before.
-- Goncalves is still trending up.
-- Fortier is not taking the next step as you would hope in his final ELC year. If he sticks around long enough, he's probably the next Crunch captain.
-- Finley could be our 4C next season.
-- Howard gets a pass even though his numbers aren't great, but his highlights have shown good talent.
-- Usau is a defensive two-way pivot, but the pucks don't go in when he's on the ice. Could move up if he finds a scoring touch.
-- Cajkovic is someone I could see having a career path similar to Verhaeghe. Might need an opportunity elsewhere though.
-- For Dureau, the offense just isn't translating. Kind of reminds me of Tufto.
-- Thompson hasn't been bad, but he's not quite a natural in the AHL as rookie either. He's kind of buried at the moment with so many d-men w/ NHL experience in Syracuse.
-- Ryfors deserves a shot at the NHL.

No, I kept an eye MacDonald last season. I think he is getting better, but I won't go higher on him until I see what he looks like in Syracuse next season.

The Carlile and Thompson comparison is easy since they have played on the same pairing most of the AHL season. Carlile by a mile -- offensively and defensively.
Rangsey liked this.
