Do you know how many first round picks it would take for the Canucks to retain $20 million dollars over the next 8 years? Absolutely horrendous.

Not only that, you are selling incredibly low on Horvat. Nick Foligno got a better return than that and he had 16 points in 42 games when he was traded. Horvat already has more than that in 16 games

I don't think the return for Miller will be anywhere near what he could have commanded before his extension, but he would have been offered a similar contract in FA so absolute worst case scenario the Canucks should be able to trade him for future considerations without retention. I think he could still command a B prospect and 2nd round pick at minimum, more if his form improves

Zero chance of Allvin eating 2.5m on Miller over 7 seasons especially for that return.

And Bo Horvat will get a better return than a late 1st and 5th round pick. Reportedly there are 6-8 teams after Horvat. A 1st and a 5th round pick would be the least of his return and would get far better.

If I were the canucks I would take this trade and run. A chance to get two of bedard/fantilli/Michov/Carlsson is easily worth the 20 million in retention

He is a point per game and scoring at a 40 goal pace. If this is considered underperforming, then I can't imagine what 100% Miller looks like (hope it means more defense)
