I can’t imagine the Canes refusing that package, but if you are pushing for another 23 first rounder, why would you swap with the Canes, especially with the high likelihood of that puck being about 30-32OA. How big of a difference would there be between a 30-32OA 23 1st rounder vs a 16-20OA 24 first rounder? I get that the 23 draft will be one of the deepest in recent memory, but is it really worth giving up 2 pretty good assets just to essential move up a couple of spots?

I mean of course I don't want to, but at a bare minimum I think shaving off 1 more year that we'd be spending bad money on, adding a valuable pick, and at the very least having a player who is a net positive at their position is more preferential given our current situation than having Ristolainen. Meanwhile, I think the pure 5 million in AAV savings is enough for Florida to take that deal

From everything I've seen from this draft class, I think it is. Obviously it'd be more ideal to swap with a team that'll end up with a pick in the low 20's, but I think there will be prospects available in the 25-35 range of this draft that would've been top-15 in most draft classes. Plus, I think the Flyers have incentive to get prospects in the system and developed ASAP, so this helps from a timeline perspective as well
