The way I see things now the isles need new blood in 3 spots, LW1, RW2, and LW4 plus there are varlamov and mayfield who either need to be re-signed or replaced. Let’s start with returning players,
Would you sign mayfield to a 5 year 15 million dollar contract which is what I’m guessing it would cost?Gudbranson got 4 years 16 million so like the cizikas deal mayfield might be willing to stretch it out for the islanders.
Varly would you sign him to 2 years 4.5? This one I don’t really have a good comp and before you say fleury, MAF was signed to start whereas varly knows he’s the number two guy. I put him in the ballpark of raanta and reimer which is where I think he ends up unless someone gives him a starting job.
LW4 I’m not going to offer options as there are too many. Lmk in the comments what you think.
RW2 assuming they’re playing with Brock and Anders. Would you want to give that spot to an unproven rookie or find someone else to play there, and who is it from either choice?
LW1 we need that winger once and for all and we don’t have them internally. Which leads us to 2 options trade or free agency. Free agency almost never results in fair contracts for the best players while trading for a star will cost a pretty penny. Lmk who you think should be targeted and what you’d give them.
