Some good thoughts in the comments....bumping up Larkin and Horvat to x$9.5M

Just some various thoughts at lunch...

I'm torn on Bert. Assuming he isn't traded would he sign a 1-year deal? Would he sign a longer-term lower value deal? Do we want/need him to? (shrug). Here, I didn't and saved cap space for future RFAs/UFAs. I like Horvat at 7x9.5 a lot more than Bert at 5x6 or 6x5.

Who knows what's going to happen with Vrana. If he's in, Soderblom goes to GR. Signed Hill v. Ned as the backup goalie but I could be convinced otherwise.

I kind of like this team. If we can sign Horvat as a real #1B Center, I think it has real possibilities. As much as I like Kasper, he's not going to be NHL ready for a couple of years. So maybe in 25-26 we'd have Larkin/Horvat/Kasper/Velano down the middle. That's not bad at all.

I don't think signing Horvat to this type of contract hamstrings future RFAs like Seider, Raymond, etc... Even with Vrana on IR, we still have $7M in cap space in 23-34. Perron could come of the books in 24-25, same with Fabbri in 25-26. Depending on how much the salary cap goes up there would be a few million more every year. Combine that with some various bridge deals for the RFAs and I think it could work long-term.
