3 way TDL trade

Kane has in 31 games 4 goals and 18 assist and is minus 21.
Lafrenière has in 34 games 5 goals and 11 assist and is plus 4.
Tell me why NYR should do this again?

Is Kane for Lefreniere okay for NYR? Maybe, debateable but maybe.

MTL gives up a 1st and Xman (which is probably 8th-15th) for Lefreniere

But CHI gets just a 1st for Kane and 50% retention of 5+mil? Thats almost insulting, and if hes that cheap, why doesn;t NYR just go direct?
