Description
Trying to make smart smaller moves that could work out well in the future. Not sold on the idea of going all in this year and trading away lots of assets. I’m also holding on to a bit of hope our goalies will turn it around soon.

All trades are rough estimates of cost didn’t put too much thought into who would win. Lmk where would have to add to make them fair.

Not sure what to make of the sabs d men this year outside of our top 4.

Kings trade- we have enough goalie prospects they don’t, they have enough rhd prospects we don’t

Wild trade- they need cheap forwards, we can give them a cheap forward. I think we have given mitts tons of opportunity to show he’s the long term 3c and hasn’t worked out. Change of scenery could help him. Also let’s us play krebs more. The prospects are coming we need to see if krebs is our 3c.

Ducks- hard for me to justify this one. Always really liked comtois for some reason so I just traded for him. Johnson prob won’t sign so why not get what we can. Comtois signs 3 years exte

Thats an overpay for Comtois, not to mention by trading johnson, we lose out on a 2nd round compensatory pick. so you are trading 2 2nds, including a top 40 pick.

Comtois has like no value, hes a 25 point player who cant play more than 13 minutes on the worst team in the NHL.

what do you plan to do with 28 contracts? you can only have 23

I will try to be a bit more positive.
Who knows the value of Mittelstadt, a second may be too much. On the other hand I have seen many ACGM's from other teams thinking he is worth much more than that.
Spence would be a nice pick up, IMO Portillo should be enough as they are both only prospects, there 6 D-men and only 2 GK on an NHL team. Kisakov may be the Sabres best LW prospect (depending upon who is doing the ranking.)
If you like Comtois sure trade a player that may not sign with Buffalo.

Now here is my big bold prediction for this years TDL.
It will be very similar to last year.
One trade that netted a 6th round pick.
It puzzled me how inactive the Sabers were last year.
But IMO they knew the team was coming together and trading anyone even a vet as Miller could upset the plan.
I see the same this year.
Without Samuelsson the team is bad, with Samuelson and without Power, Lyubushkin and Jokiharju, they still find a way to win.
