Trading for Pionk who gawd awful at D would be a very Florida thing to do but I don’t think Zito does that deal.

None of the deals make sense for the Jets.

Reinhart would be alright, but is a luxury while Pionk plays a more important position. Reinhart has also reverted to his norm and isn't worth this much.

Schenn isn't worth a 2nd to the Jets. In effect the Jets are giving up a top 4 defenseman, a bottom 6 winger and a 2nd to downgrade their defense and pickup a luxury winger.

Toews isn't needed or worth a first at half salary.

Overall, the Jets add unneeded players and weaken their roster. It's not something teams that are playing well do.

Value might not be perfect but this makes lots of sense for Jets.

I’d take the downgrade on Pionk to Schenn if it means giving Heinola an opportunity + getting a more defensively sound pairing/PKer + freeing up cap.

Even if Reinhart isn’t a PPG player this year, Jets need secondary scoring and haven’t gotten it from Appleton.

Toews is pricy but would likely get 4th line matchups if Lowry’s line is focused on shutting down other teams. That sounds like easy points to me.

I could understand it if the Jets were struggling, but making major moves when the team is playing well just doesn't make sense.

The Jets should not be subtracting from their defense for offense. The team is finally playing good team defense, there's no reason to mess with that for depth scoring. Just get a cheaper bottom 6 guy at the TDL if need be.

If Toews wasn't from Winnipeg, no one would be talking about it. I know fans like it for the feel good story, but at that salary it's bad for the Jets. Cheaper players with similar or better impact will be available at the TDL.
