Description

One stop shopping in the desert. Not sure what it would cost to acquire Schmaltz but thinking this could be an out of left-field acquisition for the Canes that fits their style. Player with term that fits the core well at a decent cap hit. My preference would still be Meier but if we don't get him and don't get others like Boeser, I think this would be an intriguing option. Sam Bennett is also something that could make sense but not sure Florida's willingness to prat with him even if they fall out of playoff race. I'm hoping we steer clear of ROR & Kane, and Toews to a lesser extent.

Ghost makes sense as a sheltered third pairing offensive D who can QB PP2 for us. Barabanov is a nice middle 6 add who I think would be a good fit in the system and could act as insurance for Fast next year if we don't keep him. Plenty of other depth add options if Barabanov doesn't make sense or work out but I think a depth, middle 6 type forward is much lower on priority list than a top 6 F and 3rd pairing D.

Really? That's not close in my opinion. He's on a 55 point pace with a 2.5 mil cap hit with another year left after this. Think a Barclay Goodrow trade + a bit more.

Eh if that’s the case I think canes would pass. He’s a good player but it’s not really much of a need so wouldn’t want to overpay.

I mean it wouldn't be an overpay, just that it would cost more than what you're saying. You'd be UNDERpaying by quite a bit with that offer.

Maybe. Think we’re both biased so it’s tough to say. I’ve seen other sharks fans happy with this type of offer and some expect more so maybe it’s somewhere in the middle.

Regardless I think it’s not worth it for the canes if it requires more than this to make the deal. Have to look at other priorities.
