If it’s Debrincat , we’d want Andersson. It doesn’t make sense for Weegar. Probably none of our core pieces make sense for Weegar. Not trading any 23-25 year old core piece for a 30+ year old player signed longterm

Flames don’t want little Johnny 2.0. They’re better trading Weegar for the Assets needed to acquire Meier or Chychrun

Yes, DeBrincat is Younger, but I believe both he & Weegar have similar Prime Years left ahead of them (5-7) because Forwards typically develop, peak and start falling off earlier. I’d say Forwards typically play at their best between 24-32, whereas D-Men and Goalies typically play their best between 26-34. Something to that general effect anyways

Given his contract, Andersson is more valuable than DeBrincat, which is why he’s not available. Besides that, we already have Toffoli who is producing more than DeBrincat for less than 1/2 of what it will cost to re-sign DeBrincat, who just like Weegar, is going to want an 8 year contract extension as well
