MY guess would be Nashville is not keen on retaining 4 mil in dead money for the next 4 years. Also not sure they'd even be able to do that with the cap space they have

friedman stated they were listening to offers on him and were open to retention , didn't say how much but would be worth exploring given that we need 2 centers for next year and depth for the playoffs

Just why? Teams on pace for possibly the best season in NHL history and you’re ripping the team apart and doing open heart surgery in February?

My guess is Boston would not do it anyway.

how would you call that ripping them apart ? that adds depth for the playoffs , likely wins a cup and fixes some issues for next year , likely also helps entice pasta to resign given that he would have a top end center to play with
