That's because 1. Schmaltz is better 2. Schmaltz is signed for 4 years 3. Has smaller cap hit than both

Depends what moves they make in offseason. Compher, Rodrigues, Helm, Cogliano, EJ all UFAs. Newhook, Byram RFAs so they need new contracts. Could trade Girard. Lots of moving pieces and I dont know what they will do but it's not impossible to afford him moving forward.

Assuming cap goes up with 1-2mil and Newhook and Byram are getting 5-6mil combined. It leaves 3-4 mil to sign 1 D and 4 forwards.

Comphers salary is for Byram,
Rodrigues salary is for Newhook
EJ salary is for Mackinnon
Helm salary is for Meyers

If you trade Girard you need another D man eating minutes.
