Notice how there is 11 defensemen. However assume Gav is gone, and Bean will not be apart of the future.
9 left. Werenski and Jiricek are clear locks, so that takes up 2 of the future 6 D spots.
7 D with 4 spots left. Notice how not everyone's gonna fit. We are pretty much stuck with Gudbranson unless we pay to move him, so that's 6 left with 3 spots.
Boqvist, Blank, Peeke, Matey, Svozil, Ceulemans. Who are you getting rid of, cause you will realistically have to get rid of a minimum of 3, I don't think all of them would be fine being a bottom line D/7th D for their future.
Be realistic. We can't keep everyone. So it's better to ship off 1 or 2 of them soon with value, while at least they still have it instead of them possibly not panning out and becoming a Foudy.

Thing is defensemen take longer to develop. So I would revisit that in two years when we get a better look at the players that actually develop.

Next season -
NHL level - Werenski, Gudbranson, Peeke, Jiricek, Blankenburg, Boqvist and Berni.

AHL/Minors - Cuelamens, Svozil, Mateychuck, Knazko and Christensen.

Gone/traded - Bean and Gavrikov.

If Columbus brings in another d in the offseason or decides to give Bean his final season Berni goes to the AHL. Also as mentioned above d take longer to be NHL ready, so let’s not rush them into the NHL lineup and ruin them like we did with Foudy.
