The Wild are getting a 4th just to broker money. There is no point retaining on Monahan when you are merely getting a 4th. You are giving him away at that point. They are better off retaining elsewhere and being a broker. They can always sign Monahan in the offseason and try their luck next TDL If he can finish the year, they'd be in the driver seat to offer him a 1-2 year deal.

The Edmundson and Monahan deals are dead when they arent healthy.

There is no reason for TB to consider that.
They can't absorb the cap hit to obtain him. In order to put him on LTIR. Contrary to what some say here you must activate a guy from LTIR, and the team obtaining him must absorb the cap hit prior to placing him on LTIR. No way TB can absorb the hit.
Edit: You can't trade/waive/send down to minors a guy while on LTIR. See Balcers with TB they had to (paper transaction) send Perbix to Syracuse then activate Balcers to send him to Syracuse then recall Perbix to make the cap work.
