On a side note-- I know I'm kinda cheating by making a roster that is not salary cap complaint with 23 players (until around January 2024) but after seeing the team voluntarily play with under 18 skaters in order to be cap compliant for Patrick Kane, I think Chris Drury will be fine risking a 22 man roster. Either an injury would lead to LTIR, or the Rangers will play a game with 17 skaters and go with an emergency call up the following game.

Well you want to keep Goodrow, but Lafreniere has a 40 point season as a 21 years old... I imagine that Lafreniere agent will gladly ask him to accept an offer twice lower than Kotkaniemi... or even lower than Sam Bennett when he was struggling with the Flames...

Miller is underpaid also. A top 4 D like him make 4.75M$ at least.

You won't be able to sign Halak at 1.5 M$ for sure without moving a bigger contract to.

Kotkaniemi? The guy who received an 8 year deal? Or the guy who signed an offer sheet? Atrocious comparison dude. The only thing he had in common with Lafreniere was his age lol.

Now Sam Bennett is at least a practical comparison, but the problem there is that his $2.55M deal was his second bridge whereas this is Lafreniere's first. In addition, he was eligible for arbitration over that 2019 offseason.

Speaking of arbitration, I'd completely agree that $4.75M would be a perfect AAV for K'Andre Miller... if he too were eligible for arbitration. But he's not. Both players are signing bridges this offseason. If anything, I'm underestimating the cost for Lafreniere while OVERestimating the cost for Miller. In the end, they're going to cost no more than $7M combined.

That is enough to sign Halak at $1.5M and keep Goodrow.
