Description
Congrats to Leon Draisaitl for accomplishing the rare feat of scoring 50 goals and 50 assists in the same season. Only 5 active players have ever done this: Ovechkin, Crosby, Malkin, McDavid and Draisaitl. The Oilers duo are the only players to have accomplished this rare feat in the past decade.

Even rarer, this is the THIRD time in his career Draisaitl has achieved these results. Among active players, only Ovechkin has done it 3 times, the others have done it just once each. Only 11 players all time have scored 50+50 three or more times in their careers. Three of the 11 did it as members of the Edmonton Oilers organization.

The 1980s goal scorers need an asterisk beside their name.

The goaltending was so damn awful during the late 70's to early 90s.

When a below average shooter like Gretzky can score a goal per game for 4 seasons, than you know the Nhl was a joke.

If Gretzky was a below average shooter, why was he leading the league in goals and setting obscene records year after year? That doesn't compute.

But yeah, achieving the 50+50 club was easier in the Eighties and early Nineties for sure. I mean, take 92-93: that season alone eleven different players did it! Twenty-one players hit 100 points and 14 had 50 goals or more! Two guys had 76 goals (Selanne and Mogilny) while Mario had 69 goals in just 60 games. Crazy.

This century 50+50 has only been done 15 times by 9 different players, so for sure that adds important context to Draisaitl's achievements.
