Description

These are some analytically driven moves that *could* be made in the offseason.

Not giving out massive contracts, but bringing in players that provide value on the ice, whether it be defensively (McNabb, Hathaway, Nosek, Trenin) or guys that fit the mold of a good two-way presense (Rodrigues)

This team can now roll 4 lines that bring their own style of play, the defense is stronger in its own end going from Dumoulin to McNabb, and Varlamov is a steady goaltender who can start 50-55 games.

It's not the fastest team, but cutting off dead weight should be enough to propel them back into playoff contention

Why not just rebuild? This team has no chance of contending. Zero, time does not wait for anyone. Your best players are not the best in the world anymore and you are one of the oldest teams in the league. Ask Crosby and Malkin what they want to do but make it clear this team is heading in the rebuild direction.
