The deal for Hall seems fair but I don't think he is the type of player Detroit will be targeting. He is on the wrong side of 30 and likely won't be with the team when they are ready to compete.

The league knows that BOS is going to be in a cap jam next year. Hall isn't a cap dump by any stretch, but getting a 2nd back for him when you need to offload his cap is a big win.

I was thinking about this yesterday actually and wouldn't mind it. Not really the type of player I like but he could help bring some offence and fill that 1LW spot. He's also getting under utilized in Boston and that's why I think his point totals are low. That would be the most I pay for him though. Would maybe see if I could save the pick and try to move a couple prospects that likely aren't going to be fits in the team.
