Description
2023 off season

Contract extensions:
Jarvis: 3.75x 4 years (or whatever takes him 1-2 years before UFA)
Aho: 9x 8 years
Skjei: 5.75x 6 years
Pesce: 5.75x6 years
Start negotiations with Necas: attempt for 5x 8years

2023 signings:
Tarasenko
Pacioretty: sign him to low money, and give a couple of extra years to get the money as low as possible. Worst case scenario he gets LTIRetired. Hopefully is healthy for camp
Staal
Ghostibehere
Puljujarvi: Bring him back and give him as many chances as possible to turn his career around. Starts season on the roster assuming that Svech and Patches are unable to make camp.
Bertuzzi: Contingency to start the season if Svech and Patches are unable to start the season. Gets lowered down the lineup once Svech and Patches return.
Hill: Can be Hill, Korpisalo, Varlamov, or another goalie that is willing to sign for low money on a 1-2 year deal. Would prefer a more veteran goalie, but Korpisalo and Varlamov are either going to be gone fast or will be too expensive. I think Hill will be good enough, especially behind the Canes defense, and can probably handle a little bit more of a workload splitting with Koochie, who could also probably handle a a bit more of a workload. Just needs to be a stopgap for Perets.

Trades:
Backlund: great 2-way 3C. Philly’s 2024 2nd is likely to be just outside the 1st round.

Roster at the start of season (if Svech and Patches are unavailable):

Teravainen-Aho-Tarasenko
Bertuzzi-KK-Necas
Noesen-Backlund-Jarvis
Martinook-Staal-Puljujarvi

Load up for 2023-24 in hopes of a very deep run.

Patches isn’t signing that deal and Bertuzzi will almost certainly make quite a bit more.

Flames decline.

If Bertuzzi was willing to sign for 3 x $4,750,000 he'd still be with Detroit not Boston. After his playoff performance you're not getting him for anything less than 5-6 years @ $6,000,000 per.

Every FA deal outside of the Tarasenko deal is an underpayment. So we can bank on this not happening.

Signing Jarvis to that is the worst of the group, it walks him right to FA without buying any FA years.

Why sign Necas to only 5?
