My only Feeling is Bouchard is progressing nicely and Nirse and Elkholm create a solid top 4 D, this Karlsson deal while flashy and bold might hurt the team more than it helps them. Sharks likely accept that TBF

100% Agree, that take was from Edmontons perspective that they would want retention on Karlsson and not Labanc.

Oilers add the 2026 1st and Sharks also retain 4m on Karlsson. Then I do it if im Oilers. If they can't do that I decline. A top 4 consisting of Nurse-Ceci + Ekholm-Bouchard is better then this I think. Karlsson is a sexy name but we don't need more flash. Bouch works nice for us and I only want solid d men that can defend right now. But of course it is tempting with Karlsson on this team. Also to have Broberg as the 3rd left D is a luxury and will become more and more of that for each year. Then he can replace Ekholm and you move down Ekholm to the 3rd left D.

Both trades are illogical and bad value for Edmonton. They don't need an $11.5M 33 year old coming off a career season that will never be repeated and another starter when they already have their goalie of the future in Skinner.
