Description
This team is so weird because they're like the only team that doesn't really have any cap-dumps nor do they have many holes in the lineup, so they're not really pressed to make any trades in the near future. Could see them extending Patches 1x3 next year. This squad would need to find an extension for Slavin as well as a replacement for Burns, but that could just be Nikishin. This squad should have no problem contending for several years to come by the looks of it.

Why would you push Kotkaniemi down the lineup? He's been absolutely excellent.

WAY too much for Drury. WAY too much for Necas, and probably a little on the high side for Jarvis. Kochetkov is not a starter. Martinook is going to make probably 3 times that. Perets just came out of college, you want him in the lineup in 2 years? That's a pipe dream. Lajoie is not an NHL caliber player, you're underpaying Skjei by about a million based on his scoring this year, you're overpaying Chatfield by about 2 million. Morrow is the natural replacement for him.

I'm well aware, every point is still valid, and even makes the Kotkaniemi point moreso. You really want to put a 34 year old ROR over Kotkaniemi...

Just seems like you're not factoring another year of growth in Necas, Jarvis and Drury. I think Kotkaniemi is solid but he seems like an okay 2C but a great 3C. Same with ROR but with more experience, they could be interchangeable at any point. Kochetkov could have a year with a veteran backup in 23-24, pass the vibe check and then comfortably take the starter job with Perets as backup. The rest is just kinda nitpicky imo.

But also curious what you would change here. Keep Kotkaniemi as 2C, Staal as 3C and then fill a cheap contract as 4C? Are you signing a starting tender with term?
