Description
With Knights new Contract , him being out parts of 2 seasons and over a year combined with his performance .
I feel a 2nd, 3rd ,Myak and Armia is a generous offer that gives them an out without buying him out.

For MTL the risk is worth the reward even if we have to be patient.
Worst case scenario he comes back and sucks we can always buy him out at 750k a year.
Not Ideal but like i said it doesnt Handcuff us either the same way Allen does by taking on this kinda risk .
Sure Armia is a bit overpaid but he shows up and plays hard with no contention he's a NHL level player.
In FLA system i think he would actually be a valuable player even if he's still overpaid.
Still cheaper then paying 3 goalies after finally getting rid of Luongo and Darlings Buyout cap hit.
FLA is finally starting to get some breathing room with 9m next year to spend
Moving out Knight gives them the ability to sign the roster bodies they need and one 6m ish player if they want.

If Knight could get a 1st given his situation ill eat my hat.
but given how hard Traditionally it is for Non Starting and Established goalies to get 1st round picks
I highly doubt it will ever be in the Cards for Knight.

Moving on to Barron going to the AHL as i figure its the next controversial move.
2/3 RD are UFA's after the next 2 seasons and IMO 1/2 by this TDL will be gone .
Barron will either be up at the end of this year or to start next season if we wait to trade at the draft.
He's only playing 16 minutes vs 22-23 in the AHL and production isnt bad
But Offense was never his weak point , turnovers in the OZ was and still is .
I just think in Laval in Houle's Defense and Special teams built system i think he and Mailloux will thrive.

Durzi is not Replacing him but instead MTL is making sure that both Barron and Mailloux are ready.
Otherwise moving out 2/3 of our RD before they turn UFA for a Profit might be unwise
We might have to keep 1/2 if we think either Mailloux or Barron cant take their place.

The hope though it Durzi, Barron, Mailloux long term beside Guhle, Harris(til Hutsons ready) and Xhekaj

For Prospect Concerns we'll still have a lot of depth.
These would just be our Quality 1st and 2nd round prospects.

TBD(FLA pick im thinking Rithchie or Bonk in the mid 20s this year)

Even if Half them fail we're still sitting in a position where we have an Embarassment or Riches.
Yes we gave up the FLA pick , two 2nds , 3rd and Ylonen but got Turcotte,Durzi and Knight.
While also moving out Hoffman a few months early and Armia a year early to make room.

We're still on pace with our Rebuild we're just filling in the weak spots during the transition period. IMO Turcotte will grow with the core here, Durzi will be the missing piece on D and Knight gives MTL a Tandem today while challenging Monty,Primeau and Dobes to take his spot.
For Knight this serves as a Transitional Period where he's put in a position with the Goalie he bumped from the depth charts in FLA.
Odds are in time he'll evolve the Tandem to favor him Starting more
It puts Knight in a prime position before he goes UFA to pick his spot not just chase money
Think of him like this era's Huet and Monty like our Theodore.
Great options to give our guys in the AHL/Junior players time to develop

MTL
  1. Knight, Spencer
Additional Details:
4.5m x 3 years is a hard contract to move at Jake Allen like Numbers in the cap strapped NHL. While Knight still has value to get it FLA needs to take back Salary if they want to make room for Lyon.

FLA take on Armia to shave cap and 1 year off term.
He'll provide more value at 4th RW then Knight will sitting behind Bobrovsky and Lyon
FLA
  1. Armia, Joel
  2. Mysak, Jan
  3. 2023 3rd round pick (MTL)
  4. 2025 2nd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
Taking on a player who's spent 1 year 2 months away from the sport in the NHLPA's Substance abuse program is a hard sell cause you dont know what you're getting

Taking on Armia help balance the risk vs reward for MTL

Knight for all these factors and his stats should only get a 2nd round pick , 3rd round pick and Mysak. I was willing to go higher before i realized it had been over a year and he's still sitting out so who knows the timeline or if he'll return at all. On a team like MTL the stress might be too much but the fact that he's taking his time i see as a positive in this situation from a Growth POV.
2.
MTL
  1. Turcotte, Alex
Additional Details:
LAK pay ARZ to RS in the sum of a 4th round pick
LAK
  1. Edmundson, Joel ($1,750,000 retained)
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
LAK get 37th OA pick this year and a cheap LD Rental cap wise
3.
MTL
  1. Durzi, Sean
Additional Details:
1 for 1
FLA Pick 17th to 32nd overall
For Durzi.

With these 2 picks LAK now has a 1st round pick and an early 2nd round pick at this years draft that is the deepest since 2003 most boast.
LAK
  1. 2023 1st round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
Discussed it with a few LAK fans. For a year plus Durzi was too important .Now it seems its Spence's and Clarke's turn.I agree with it 100% too i'd take either of those guys for the same pick in a second flat.

That said getting someone who's Proven in multiple systems to be Suzuki's Reliable set up guys , MTL is 100% interested in bringing in his best friend.

We got such a positive young core that adding to the Caufield/Suzuki Guhle and Dach vibes with Durzi would be stellar.
4.
MTL
    Scandella trade format
ARZ takes him for a 4th with RS

But rather then give up a 4th
Im offering up Jesse Ylonen a ARZ Native.
his value is atleast a 2nd and a B prospect

    ARZ gets assets
MTL gets room on the roster
Our AHL has more RHP types
Our AHL system is set to be full soon
Gotta get them their time in now
    ARI
    1. Hoffman, Mike ($2,250,000 retained)
    2. Ylönen, Jesse [RFA Rights]
    Additional Details:
    Ylonen missed his window
Its Teadale , Condotta and RHP's time now.

Teadale is a bigger more stout version of RHP who beat Suzuki head to head for MVP and the Memorial Cup. Condotta is Matt Martin's little cousin playing kinda like a Hybrid Clutterbuck and Martin type. He's a Pest more then a goon as he'll finish fights but he's all about drawing the Penalties. RHP should need no introductions.

While Ylonen did have a great year showing progress while taking steps forward its a little too late and we filled that spot

I would accept both of those offers as the Los Angeles GM.

And No, this isn't a knee-jerk reaction; I've given both proposals a lot of thought.

I figured its fair for both
Turcotte is a bit risky but IMO even if he just becomes Laval's long term Captain, its worth it if he has half the impact his dad did on the Youth when he lead our AHL team.

Durzi well you know me and Durzi.
Im not one to hand out 1st rounders i usually try using 2nd rounders that are conditional if i do.
With Durzi im glad to give it up for the simple fact he's that missing piece we need for our Dcore.
All the other reasons are just a bonus.

It sticks with Hughes Mantra about valuing established younger players at similar or better Quality.
So here's to hoping we atleast make the Durzi deal happen at the Draft
It would give them a way to tie in the Durzi /Suzuki moments from their draft that was just heart warming and im a crusty old **** lol
