Matthews isn’t getting that return imo. Especially with him being a UFA. MAtthews will likely want a max contract also

We don't need a future third-round draft pick so much that we're willing to trade a useful young cheap bottom-6 forward for it.

It’s def not terrible for LT, but that contract is such a steal the next two years I just don’t see a first being worth it to a cup contending team

Once again, for as excellent of a player as Matthews is, he is still a one year rental until proven otherwise. The Kraken won't be trading McCann, a 40 goal scorer on a good contract, along with a recent top-5 pick in Wright and premium draft capital for a one year rental.

Seattle also has enough depth on the wing that trading a 1st and 2nd round pick for Knies makes no sense for them. Toronto probably needs him more anyway.

With the amount of upside LT has as a goalie, how good his contract is, and the pure uselessness of a mid-first-round pick to a team like VGK in a contending window, Vegas is taking a pass on this one.
