Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Cooley, Logan [Reserve List]
  2. 2023 1st round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
Leafs get a young stud in Cooley who will join them after his college season and a 1st round pick in the up coming draft. It honestly is not enough for the Leafs in terms of value for Matthews but change is unavoidable.
ARI
  1. Matthews, Auston
Additional Details:
Arizona needs everything and anything to stay in Arizona. Bringing in a top 5 player who just so happened to be born and raised completely changes a fans perspective. This deal could signal handily save the team. The team cannot offer to wait one more season to wonder IF he'll hit UFA.
2.
TOR
  1. Farabee, Joel
Additional Details:
Leafs get a young middle six winger with a high cap hit but high ceiling. Hoping he can find himself on one of the top lines to help the scoring touch.
PHI
  1. Abruzzese, Nick [RFA Rights]
  2. Mete, Victor [RFA Rights]
  3. 2023 1st round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
Unsure if the Flyers take this deal but it's just an offer. Flyers get a 1st in a deep draft and two depth players who likely cost league mini to play with them. They also shed cap on a player who they beted on early, who has not come around just yet.

That's kind of the point, the idea behind it is Matthews says he won't resign. Every team would love to have him / wait till UFA to try and bid for him but Arizona would likely try to trade for him because they need that start power there. He would instantly be named the captain, sales would likely skyrocket and it would give them a good chance to legit stay in Arizona if their star player was home.

No chance on the flyers offer probably. The 1st is probably a good start, even though its late round but:

Abrueze probably doesn;t become an NHLer, but hes not without some upside and could breakthrough as a bottom 6 guy, but unlikely. Hi svalue in picks might be a 5th.

Mete's rights have ZERO value, hes been given multiple chances to become an NHLer and he is not.

And I dont think Farabee is great but he is a top 6 winger (middle 6 guy AT WORST), and has alot of upside and is young and at points in his short NHL career has looked great. Farabee had 38 pts in 55 games, then as Flyers tanked, had tons of injuries in the top 6 and could n;t score the last 2 years he sunk to 34 pts in 63 games and 39 pts in 82 games, but you can see on a better team those totals easily go up

Totally fair assessment, I likely believe the trade I have put fourth is too little for the Flyers. I feel like Voit is a piece that would likely need to go back with the 1st to get the flyers interested. Coming off a 105 point season and finishing second in scoring in the OHL,
Hammerwise liked this.

Fair enough, Im just not sure the BOS 1st and Voit (who's looking good, but is still just a upper midlevel prospect) gets it done. Farabee is 23 and just skimming the surface on a bad team (look at the injuries to PHI's top 6 forwards the past two years and its easy to see why they cant score).

And PHI also has high forward prospects in foertser, brink, gautheir, etc... in pipeline with frost, cates, alison, tippett, farabee all on the team under the age of 24, which lessens what Voit is worth to THEM.
