Description
OVERVIEW: not much cap space left but have a full roster with flexibility to gain cap-space via send down/recall paper transactions (Cuylie, Drury, and Schneider are waiver exempt). Still not sold on the D corp but figure improvement from the forwards will help. Also interested in any feedback on potential trades of Miller (if he is asking for way too much) and LAF to use for future ACGM releases

NOTES

Goodrow buyout: not wasting time trying to trade him (and avoid all of the "this team won't trade for him" responses). The squeeze is not worth the juice. I am not concerned the dead cap space will go through the 2030-31 season (Gorton wasn't concerned about dead cap space going through the 23-24 season when he bought out Girardi in 2017). After 23-24 season cap increases will be much higher (6 seasons prior to the 2019-20 season averaged a 2.85 million a year increase) - projecting to be b/t 3 and 4 mil increase each season.

LAF signing: similar stats to kaako when he hit RFA so contracts should be the same.

Miller signing: If he is looking for way more than Rangers should look to trade him for a top 6 RW who would have around the same term I listed for the Miller signing (4 yr @ 4.25mil)

LW glut: Panarin can suck it up and play RW. If not than Kreider should step up and do it. Don't force LAF to the right and don't try to shoehorn Othmann there and mess up his development

I'm just not a fan of Jones. Would trade while he still has some type of value for either a C or a RW around the same age and with waiver exemption. Rangers need a few more cost controlled young players with NHL experience on the roster. Canes have a need for an inexpensive left D. Drury wants an opportunity somewhere else - seemed like a nice fit.

You make a good point and then again Drury wants out for some reason so yeah I guess its an ok trade
