It’s interesting for sure, but I would be more willing to trade pick 31 and 5 to San José for pick 4. This way we could have Smith and Sj gets Michkov

Sorry, but this makes no sense to me. You're trading a 3rd overall (Dach) and a 5th overall for another 3rd overall. I could see this for Bedard or even Fantili, maybe, but Smith and Carlson aren't nearly worth this kind of trade.

Doesn't make sense for either team really.

Unless CBJ are absolutely in love with Smith and are 100% sure he's there at 5, it's not worth giving up their best chance at getting a long term 1C
On MTL's end, no need for them the give up that much value and overpay for a 2 spot jump
