Description
Just toying with ideas. It's pretty safe to say Puljujarvi won't be qualified I would think, though Frederic should be if Boston can afford him. I'm just contemplating that with the dire cap situation there, they could be forced to not do so.

I know McLeod is highly valued in NJ, but for the Avs to give up the '23 1st, late or not, I'd want more than just Sharangovich's rights so I tried to do something more. If Hischier has any say in NJ (as the core appears to in Colorado) he may be keen on the addition of his fellow countryman. I don't know if Malgin's rights and a third would be enough added to the first however but NJ would likely be keen to move back into the first round.

Avs don't go after a big 2C signing but have options to step in there....Sharangovich, Newhook, Drouin & Rantanen.

Contracts I haven't really focused heavily on the term and value, (bar Byram as I think 4-5 for 3 is the ideal bridge deal), just approximates to see what could fit working with round figures. RFA contracts are especially hard to predict and there's play either way with some of them imo, as with the UFAs. Whatever the Avs do, they're almost certainly moving a D either this year or next if not two, (and possibly moving on from Frankie and hoping Annunen is ready to step up), if and when Landy returns.

They most certainly absolutely should. He does however, have arbitration rights which has led to some specualtion he might not be. I would think however if that were the case they'd try to trade him rather than let him walk for nothing.

Feel like it's rare that those deals actually get to arbitration. If so, I can't really see the Bruins declining whatever the arbitrator deems worthy for Frederic, not like it's going to be some absurd #

As I said in the description, I'd expect them to give him a deal, one way or another. If it did go to arbitration they'd probably even be better accepting whatever the arbitrator gives and then trade him with a deal in place (as long as it's not absurd which it shouldn't be as you rightly say) to at least get something back for him. They wouldn't get full value with the position they're in however they traded him (were they to do so) but it's just the predicament they're in. This was merely a case of IF the speculation ended up being true then the Avs should be in there as quick as possible.
