since when is a consistent 20+ goal scorer who is very reliable in his own zone a 3rd line player? would love to see how many of those there are in the league
Hellebuyck just got 8.5m a year. Swayman isn't as good, doesn't have the track record, and is an RFA. He's not getting 8+. He'll get a shade over 7m max

Who cares if he hits, he gets hemmed in his own zone all the time and does nothing offensively. Would rather not trade assets for that
Only want them trading assets for tangible upgrades, Lauzon is not that. Didn't hate his time in Boston, but that time has passed

need to be a contender again
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>even more ridiculous than that. i was at the garden when the bruins lost in 2010. the bars afterwards were packed with guys that played JV in high school talking about how they had to trade chara, move on from krejci, fire julien, ditch rask...all sorts of stuff like that.</div></div>
Not surprising, but that's still ridiculous
But back to the original point. You need to have a good team to contend in the playoffs (obviously) but it really is a lot of getting hot at the right time and getting some puck luck. This Bruins team has enough to do that imo. They're never going to get blown out in a series. Resource wise, I'd understand going all in again, going after lower priced targets, or sticking pat at the deadline. Makes zero sense to sell, not that I think Sweeney would ever do that.

Can't imagine what twitter would've looked like after 2010. Krejci too soft, can't win when it matters, fire Julien

Bruins have 9 forwards with more goals than Laughton, 8 with the same amount of points or more. Solid player, but trading a 1st for something they already have would be poor asset management. If they trade a 1st, go after Hanifin, Middleton or a scoring forward

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>a couple posts and you think they aren't contenders now?</div></div>
Bruins fans are ridiculous, yea they played like **** against CGY and Wash, but they just beat the best team in the NHL and severely outplayed Seattle. Still tied for 1st in the East and people still want them to sell and get rid of Monty. Convinced they never watch a lick of hockey outside the Bruins and just don't realize how good we have it

not even sure if I'd do that. 7 goals in 52 games, tough deployment, but hasn't been his usual self defensively. I'm still passing at 2.5m for the next 2 years after this

Wennberg
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>Here’s my thinking. Is he an upgrade over Geekie. Not really. Pretty much a lateral move at 3C and fixes none of their problems.
On top of which Geekie has been much better at C than W this year. They could make Geekie C4 but that’s a waste.
Don’t really see the point of pursuing him other than insurance versus injuries at center, which would leave them thin. For that alone i would be ok with it, but they really need a goal scorer more and they don’t have the cap space for multiple moves.</div></div>
I just don't think him and Geekie are all that comparable playstyle wise. Wennberg, to me, is a center-only version of Mojo. Good passer, slick skater, reliable in his own end. I like how it lengthens the lineup, it just adds versatility. If one of Geekie/JVR/Freddy/Heinen etc are having a poor game, it allows you to play them a bit less on the 4th line and you can elevate whoever looks good from the 4th.
With the lack of assets the Bs have, I'm all for getting a guy like Wennberg for cheap. Don't see them trading Forbort without another dman coming back though

adding for the stretch
Lybushkin is a black hole with the puck, sure he hits, but you aren't scoring when he's on the ice. Net negative player, Gryz is better. Cgy wants more than that for Hanifin. Don't mind the other adds

Offseason
I know Ullmark's value is all over the place on this site, but I do think the Bruins can get more if they end up trading him next season. Lots of teams need established #1s, Bruins have no need to deal him. I think they look at what Kuemper got a couple years ago as a comparison which was a 1st, 3rd and decent prospect (Timmins), and he did not have a Vezina under his belt

Montreal trade is interesting. Jeff Gorton drafted Kakko so I could definitely see some interest there. Along with a center they need in Monahan, NYR get back some youngish depth pieces with term. I like the idea
