Description
If DeBrusk is going to be moved (and its a big if) what's his value and who should he be moved for? It makes sense that an upgrade at LD is the preferred target.

For each of these, is it fair? Who needs to add more? Purely looking for opinions. And "it would never happen" is a boring opinion.

Only Cup contenders will be trading for an upcoming UFA DeBrusk.

Don't think they move Debrusk if they don't get another forward

              Rangers don’t take your call.

Minny has cap issues, can’t extend him so not interested.

Matheson would be a terrible move.

Debusk is of no use to SJ if he does not extend, and he does not unless they throw a ridiculous bag at him.

              That leaves Bahl and Noah.

Again if he does not extend, Calgary wastes the chance of cashing on Noah. If he is willing to extend and they want to discuss, Boston adds.

NJ would likely be a straight swap. Don’t see them doing it. Their D has been decimated with injuries.

Mike Matheson plays 25:00 per game, skates like the wind and is top 10 in pts by defensemen. He has his faults and is not a top 10 defensemen by any means, but he also only makes $4.875M which is extremely good value given his production. These kind of defensemen are not available on the market and for good reason.

Debrusk is putting up 3LW numbers this year and is a pending UFA. He wouldn’t be considered as a main piece in a return for Matheson, but rather a piece to simply make the cap work. Add one of Poitras or Lysell and Boston would still have to add a pick to get the conversation going.

Lots of Left Shot Forwards available, especially those only producing ~0.50PPG. With his Cap Hit and being a Pending UFA, DeBrusk doesn’t have much value…

Top-4 Defensemen with 11 Goals on the season already and putting up 0.57PPG playing 24-25mins/night in all situations on the other hand are far more rare and valuable

DeBrusk really has no value to the Flames other than to make a deal work on a Trade for Hanifin, so unless the deal includes both Poitras + Lohrei OR at least one of them + a 1st RD Pick, BOS won’t be acquiring Hanifin at the Trade Deadline and risks him Signing with the Team he does eventually get Traded too

I don’t see the Flames needing or being very high on Lysell. We have Wingers, we need Centres and Defensemen, so while BOS needs Centres and they like Poitras, he’s out the rest of the season and if they acquire Hanifin and sign him long-term, they can move Lohrei as well

You can't trade a UFA to a non playoffs team and get a player with term in return. That's wishfull thinking without considering the other team's needs. Soooo.... it would never happen is what I'm trying to say.

Bahl is the only one that even kind of makes sense for the non-Bruins team.

DeBrusk has 27 points in 57 games this season you're not getting Miller for him especially when he's gonna be a UFA
