final deadline moves
NYR don't need a pick when they're trying to contend, they also don't have a stable replacement for Schneider and their D depth is already very then. Easy decline. Just take a 3rd round pick and Zac Jones for Patches and call it a day.

This is an overpay, a 1st + Schneider should be enough, maybe a mid-round pick or low B prospect to sweeten the deal on top of that but the Blues would take this deal and run

The rumor about Dolan not wanting to trade the 1st is fake news and has been debunked. Rangers also don't need to dump Goodrow right now and could very well be better off buying him out. Just do guentzel for the 24 1st + othmann and leave it at that.

Rangers get no benefit trading Kakko for futures. He hasn't lived up to his expectations but he's still a useful player for them.

lol I just know that Kakko on any other team is gonna become a 70 point scoring two way forward who's a nightmare to play against. Us Rangers fans have too much PTSD from trading away young wingers. It'll be a tough pill to swallow to lose Kakko for a rental, but if it must be done, it must be done.

Buch
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>I would guess that your 24 1st and Schneider would definitely get Army's attention, yes. I cannot promise you he takes it, but it would certainly start some length of conversation. Most of your fellow Rangers fans seem decidedly un-eager to offer up Schneider. I can only recall seeing it once. Out of what has to be 100 or more AGMs by now. I'm probably lowballing that guess.</div></div>
I mean I also don't want to trade Schneider but I wouldn't mind if it's for the right trade. For a rental he's off the table but for a player with term like Buch or a sign and trade, I wouldn't mind parting ways with him. You have to give up something good to get something good.

Next year if Chytil is done
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GM69</b></div><div>He's a good player, I just think the wear and tear on his body is starting to show and would rather trade him now than extend him to a Girardi type contract (which it would be 2-3 years down the line). My thought is he may ask for more than Andersson makes (my guess is $5m) and he just won't be worth that in 2-3 years if he keeps taking the beating he has. They get a solid replacement in Andersson and also could potentially get a mid round pick with the overall packages being swapped. Kakko and Turcotte have both underperformed and I could argue Kakko does have more value, but getting rid of him was more since we have Perreault and Othmann ready to make the jump and Cuylle playing well.</div></div>
Lindy's only 26. Yes he's a Girardi type but I think he still has some gas left in him.

Buch
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>First of all, let's remember the Blues do not want to trade Buch. So he would need to be pried away.
More than anything they'll want a legit top 4 young or young enough Dman/D prospect, and the sooner to contributing the better. For the Rangers - who happen to have a few of those on board - this is even more important, as they seem intent on not trading their 24 1st and will definitely require retention.</div></div>
The rumor about Dolan not wanting the Rangers to trade their 24 1st has been debunked for a while now. It's definitely on the table.
As for the dman, they do have Miller who fits the mold of what you want, but a big change to their D-core right before the playoffs isn't a good idea in my opinion. If I were Drury I'd be open to moving Miller in the right trade but not right before the playoffs. Beyond Miller, there's Schneider who can probably fit the mold of what the Blues want, as he has a lot of promise and will be top 4 caliber soon, would you be open to a 1st + Schneider for Buch with retention?

You can have a pick or a prospect instead of Lindy if you want. Making a big change like that to your D-core right before the playoffs is bad timing.

Why not just extend Lindy? He won't be expensive and yes he's had a rough season but he's still a good player.

Not what you want to give up.</div></div>
Realistically what do you think the Blues want for Buch?

50% of Adam Fox's points are scored on the power play. Does that make HIM only "a power play merchant"?</div></div>
Yes they're all powerplay merchants, it's not a bad thing to be a powerplay merchant lol. My point is 1) that the Rangers don't need another powerplay merchant and 2) that on most teams better than the Ducks, Vatrano wouldn't be given the role he was with Anaheim on the PP, so that inflates his value.

Vatrano isn't worth a 1st. Ducks fans can say he is but really he's just a powerplay merchant who's only even on the powerplay because the Ducks are a bad team that doesn't have anyone better. On a good team he's a 40-50 point forward at best, useful but not worth a 1st. And if the Ducks won't take any less for him then the Rangers would be better off paying a 3rd or 4th for Duclair.

lol youre gonna have to give up assets to have a team take Kuzy. You seriously expect to get Kakko and a 2nd for him when they couldve just gotten him for free? Even with the retention he's a problematic player who isn't worth his cap.

I don't think you realize just how much space he'll take up. He's a very good player who's gonna be in for a raise. Even if we buyout Goodrow and don't resign Lindgren(which btw doesn't solve as many problems as you think cause now we need to fill the role of Fox's D partner for cheap), we still won't have enough space.

There's basically zero chance the Rangers are gonna be able to resign Guentzel, I don't think they should be trading Othmann for a rental. If he had term or could easily be resigned then that would be a different story.
