Bruins Next Year
i think this sets the bruins back a long time, and is a very bad idea.

need to be a contender again
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LPProductions</b></div><div>Not surprising, but that's still ridiculous
But back to the original point. You need to have a good team to contend in the playoffs (obviously) but it really is a lot of getting hot at the right time and getting some puck luck. This Bruins team has enough to do that imo. They're never going to get blown out in a series. Resource wise, I'd understand going all in again, going after lower priced targets, or sticking pat at the deadline. Makes zero sense to sell, not that I think Sweeney would ever do that.</div></div>
the funny part is it's not like they're playing bad. i think they hit 5 posts last night. they outplayed tampa and got goalied. in an 82 game schedule, that's going to happen.

Is this a joke? lol it must be
Xhekaj is barely a NHL player, yes he's strong and can fight but he's terrible defensively

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>If Calgary wants NHL players instead of picks and prospects…Dubois would be pretty good get. Add in all their young forwards and add a dman or two…could be deep forward bunch.

Honzek - Ruzicka - Pospisil
UFA - Weegar
Solovyov - Andersson
Kuznetsov - Spence

Even if I assume they want NHLers in return, I still don't imagine they'd be keen to increase their commitment to underperforming, defensively-suspect Fs to 19mil for another 7.5 years while ALSO trading away their two most valuable pieces of tradebait (each of which can likely return a 1st+) while only getting Jordan Spence in return.

Next year
Bs ask for more with the retention on Ullmark, and the in division aspect makes this unlikely, unless Boston can't get a first from another team. Also think Ullmark has every Canadian team on his no trade

something i want to try when Poitras is back
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dugg133</b></div><div>Geekie is fine, end of the day he's a bottom 6 guy. Putting up points next to the best RW in hockey doesn't change that. I want to see what Merk can do farther up in the lineup though.</div></div>
Says who? He’s been used as a bottom 6 guy because there has been no place for him to play everywhere he’s been in the NHL.
He was a productive player in juniors and minors. Last season his 5v5 point production per minute was 52nd in the league. For perspective there are 192 “top 6” slots in the NHL.
He’s producing, playing well, the line works. Leave it alone. (Something Monty is incapable of LoL)
My guess is he goes back to AHL when Poitras returns, unless they are willing to play him on 4th line. A possibility, but he does not fit a 4th line role. Plays a very soft game.

That is true of any goalie. With the exception of Roy who carried bad teams and Brodeur.
Bostons team defense is not that impressive just for the record. Sway and Ully save their bacon most nights.

In my ideal world
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Ullmark comps
Fleury: older coming off vezina win, 3.5x3 went for 2nd
Lehner: same age, coming off 3rd place vezina. 2nd+5th+prospect at 1.1 million at deadline
Kuemper: 2 top 10 vezina finishes, 3.5 mill, 1st+3rd+prospect (3rd was conditional on a cup win)
Your best case is probably kuemper deal if you retain 50%. Without that retention it's probably just a 1st</div></div>
You mean the player that was traded when Las Vegas ran out of cap room. Taylor Hall was apparently just dealt for Regula and Mitchell, so former Conn Smythe winners aren’t worth much either.
Go to Keumper for the last great goalie traded without cap considerations. A first, a third, and Connor Timmins.
Outside of cap situations, grear goalies don’t get traded. The fact that both of us have to go that far back is sign enough. GM’s don’t trade them. You can choose to believe that is because of a mystical “risk premium” or GM’s like their jobs.
Either way. I don’t trade Swayman for Mercer. Some of you say you won’t trade Mercer for Swayman. Good enough

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Vegas traded for Lehner.
Minnesota traded for Fleury at 3.5 from Chicago.
Yes Kuemper with retention got a 1st, timmins, and a 3rd that was conditional on a team winning the stanley cup.</div></div>
I struggle when people toss out comparables of players in their mid 30s as if they are comparable to 24 year olds. If I compared Jonathan Toews or Logan Couture to Dawson Mercer, would that mean anything to you in terms of a comparable? Probably not.
Either way, we can keep our young goaltender who looks like he has the potential to be the best in the league and be completely OK with it, My guess is you could do the same with Mercer.

Quite frankly i don’t know if there is a player in the league they trade Mac for. Sure there are better move valuable players than Mac. But there just is not any scenario in which they are better off after they trade him.

Lindholm to the Bruins
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bhavikp27</b></div><div>Lindholm isn't a Selke level C and has never been. Even 1C is a debatable.</div></div>
Lindholm is absolutely a Selke caliber center. His defensive metrics alone put him into that category. He's also garnered Selke votes throughout his career. He's just not a legitimate top line 1C. Despite what Flames fans would have you believe.
He's a high-end 2C capable of filling in a 1C role if no better option is available. But his career production numbers and advanced stats all point to him being a 2C.
Think Mikko Koivu or Joel Eriksson-Ek, both great shutdown Center's who were/are both Selke caliber 2C's but not legitimate 1C's. Lindholm belongs in that same category as them.

Agree with these exact lines and ur preferences in the description
Bruins obviously still need a top 6 forward
kinda seems like Montys stacking the top line (March-Zacha-Pasta) keeping JVR-Coyle-Freddy chemistry together, then just throwing the remaining forwards left on Poitras line (Heinen-Poitras-JD)
would rather have some thought process and intention behind the lines like u listed
