When you've already got one underperforming Quebecer on a massive albatross of a contract, why not GO OUT & GET ONE MORE? WOOOOOO!!!
If Calgary wants NHL players instead of picks and prospects…Dubois would be pretty good get. Add in all their young forwards and add a dman or two…could be deep forward bunch.

Left side of blueline would need some work. They may match up well with Islanders, who need a forward, have little cap space or assets and have to pay Dobson, Romonov and Bolduc in the following off-season. Mangiapane for Romonov…Dube for Bolduc…something.

Even if I assume they want NHLers in return, I still don't imagine they'd be keen to increase their commitment to underperforming, defensively-suspect Fs to 19mil for another 7.5 years while ALSO trading away their two most valuable pieces of tradebait (each of which can likely return a 1st+) while only getting Jordan Spence in return.
PLD who wanted out of Peg for bright lights, big city, big market getting traded to Calgary after signing long term deal before his NMC kicks in next year would be effing hilarious.

What makes PLD a good player this season? He still has 7 x $8.5M owed to him after this season. He has a career high of 63P, and 28G. He is on pace for an 18G, 38P season.
He could rebound, like he did after his first season in WPG, but why take on the risk and do the Kings a favor? That's the same reason no one will be taking Meier off NJ's hands until he plays himself out of this rut.

Meier has been hurt all year (our whole team has!). I am confident he will be fine in long-run.
Would let LAK or CBJ or WPG fans respond on Dubois...not my specialty.

When you focus on just G and A yeah numbers aren’t great at all but you’re not factoring the players he’s with.
A rookie in laffy and a fringe NHLer. When he was with fiala he scored.
So if you had a do-over, would you sign PLD to that contract again?
Personally, I would be more interested in Danault than PLD from a CGY perspective.
Yes I would. It sucks losing Vilardi but I get why he was in the deal.
Beginning of the season kings had no doubt top 3 down the middle and probably still do. They got rocked by EDM in back to back years and partially due to not deep enough down the middle. Lizotte 3C that’s ridiculous.
Danault is really fun to watch. Glad kings have him.

If the Kings wanted a redo in the offseason, Boston and them actually fit reasonable well with an Ullmark and other considerations for PLD without having retention issues
Boston should rather have PLD than Lindholm and my guess is PLD might actually consider Boston because of the opportunity to play on the same line as Pasta.
I’d be curious if LA would be on Ullmark’s NTC list

If that were ever the case to trade him. BOS adds more pieces.

I’d think ullmark would waive
In an Ullmark for PLD scenario, I’d think Bruins would have to add a considerable amount. Young top-6 centers generally carry a lot more trade value than goalies.
PLD for Ullmark, Lysell, Kuntar
PLD for Ullmark, Geekie, pick
PLD for Ullmark, Lohrei, Farinacci

Don’t know what LAK wants but these seem in range
The open question is PLD viewed in the same light as he was when he signed the contract,. My guess is no, but I agree they’d have to add if they went this direction.
Jonathan Huberdeau was once the primary return for Tkachuck. I wouldn’t take him for free at this point, PLD is not near that point, but I’d argue his value in a trade has taken a significant hit.

First year with new team…probably not an 80-pt center, but I think his stick goes up from here. Maybe good time to buy if made available.
But in general…a young 60-pt center will usually have a lot more value than a rental goalie…even if they are a bit overpaid. I think Bruins would have to part with another worthwhile piece. And maybe ask LAK to eat $1m off AAV if that piece hurts (like Phil Kessel outta Toronto deal).

I believe they keep him for a while and won’t make a move.
