Description
Go for a Quantity over Quality pick strategy and send Murray home in a pseudo buy-out through retention.

Leaves 12 million to improve the team and fill out the depth beyond what we have currently.

I would consider using some of that space to bring in a somewhat productive middle six winger on a one year contract who is considered overpaid to maximize the space utilization.

Maybe one of Yamamoto or Foegele from Edmonton, or Roslovic from CBJ.
Mantha makes sense here too

I would personally rather have the 1st round pick. We need quality. we have a lot of quantity already.

What is the GSVA of Murray? Negative. Which is why no team is taking him without either salary going back or assets attached.

Murray was a positive value goalie this year by moneypuck
And we have him being retained down.

Mrazek cost 13 draft slots to move, and that was for a 2 year contract with a massively negative goalie.
You're gonna need a damn good explanation as to why a positive value goalie at 3 million will cost more to move to a team that needs a goalie and we know for a fact the GM likes

I don't think the quality at 28 helps us more than 4 shots in the 3rd

Simple. Cap space is at a premium still with a flat cap and Dubas will bleed TOR of every asset he can. Remove the retention and you can get back Granlund with a late pick instead. Otherwise, golf until 1967.
