Wish the young man all the best. But we see this all the time, skillful players in the lower leagues who don't have NHL skating abilities, rarely make an impact in the NHL.

look at the scouting reports on jason roberston or brayden point. if you put up points you put up points, he's one of the highest scoring players in WHL history

I can show you list of great WHL. OHL, Quebec Junior or even AHL who had great stats...but never had a whiff on the NHL.

You mentioned Point. Probably why Steve Yzerman was/is a great GM. Point really wasn't on the radar because he been playing in AEHL. But Yzerman attended the first game that Point played in the WHL. According to Yzerman, he "had it" and was the best player on the ice that game. When every other team shied away from him for whatever reason, Yzerman "knew" they had a winner, and gee grabbed in the third round. Not too many stars play four full season (and part of fifth) in the junior any more, but Point did.,

my point is that robertson and point had the exact same concerns about their skating as cristall does. cristall significantly outperformed their draft year junior seasons. no sure thing, but people are way underestimating just how much he scored in the whl -- like i said a near historic rate for a draft year player.
