Description
So far they've added Newhook which was Dach 2.0.

Can they take on a contract for a draft pick like they did with Monahan last season?

Can they dump Carey Price's contract for cap dump as well to get out of LTIR and avoid bonus overages over the next 3 years?

I feel like the Vancouver one is realistic, interested to here the thoughts from Canucks fans.

I'm not sure how aggressive the Blues will be this offseason but that was the cap dump around the league I arrived at as a good fit. If they want to make another splash they will need cap space, this would achieve that.

Another Cap dump candidate is Matt Murray, but I just don't know where he fits in, Laval maybe if they send Primeau back? Not sure how realistic these cap dumps are, cap space seems to be extremely valuable right now so this is what I'd be looking at for returns to make it worth it.

The thought regarding Hoffman at 50% is that Dadanov just resigned at $2.25M × 2 years, Avs took Johansen at $4M (Hoffman was just as productive), someone who wants a player that could help a functional powerplay would take Hoffman at 50% retained I think.

Habs eat a $6M cap hit this year but they get a veteran roster defenseman and they're out of LTIR so there will not be any bonus overages moving forward.

    Additional Details:
Vancouver is already operating in LTIR so there is little downside to taking on Price's contract, especially compared to dumping Myers contract.

Paying a 2nd to dump Scandella at this point in Free Agency is wild. Not really sure Scandella is a dump at all to begin with. He'll have some value at the deadline. It's more likely we move out Rosen or Bortuzzo and remain where we're at. Re-signing Tarasenko certainly isn't a priority for them at this juncture.

I'm not sure the Habs want to take on a cap facilitator strategy this year. They seem to genuinely want to "let the kids play" so bringing in more Monahans gets in the way if that.

Don't get me wrong, I am open to it, but I doubt any of these happen.

Also I think we'd be very luck to move Hoffman or Armia, there are still a ton of free agents available at sub 1M numbers.

Bring em in and immediately waive them then scratch them in the AHL. Take on the draft picks and inform the bums we're acquiring that their days are done, go coach minor league hockey somewhere.

As I said, not sure what the Blues plan is this offseason but if they'd like to improve and need cap space to do it this is an option. Keep in mind that Toronto's 2nd round pick will be late (it was 60th this year), and at that range only ~25% of drafted players even become NHL players... let alone getting Norlinder in return who himself was literally a 64th overall pick, pretty much the most common player you're gonna get at that point in the draft. When yoy really analyze it, I think it's wild that this deal wouldn't interest you especially if it allows you add a better player through free agency.

I have Scandella and Murray both in Laval, so they aren't getting in anyone's way. I didn't move Armia (he's in Laval), you could be right about Hoffman we will see.

If you want to let the kids play then taking on Cap dumps is the only useful thing MTL could do with their surplus of cap space this season, your logic seems contradictory - would you rather they just sit on the cap space instead of leveraging it into draft picks?

Edit: Other than Myers I suppose, but he could also be waived if we feel that way who cares. We know there will be injuries, there always are.
