Description
with Bergy just having another kid, i really am not positive on him coming back, or it'll be a late August/early September signing at best, so i think we need to plan on live without him. I don't see a scenario where Krejci comes back either unfortunately. If they do, it'll need to be on league mins, with incentives like last year, but that just kicks the can down the road another year and hurts a bit for the 2024 FA class. Unless somehow Draisaitl wants to test FA in 2025 and we go all in on that (one can dream right)

This focuses on a good young center piece, and getting Swayman the starting role he needs/wants (shorter term to prove he is what we think he is)
Signed Sway to a comparable Hart/Oettinger contract, but i think may be a little less since they were already established as #1's at 23. I don't think we're ready to do a 5x5 type yet.
I'm hoping it doesn't come down to a Spencer Knight 3x4.5m type deal

Forbort becomes a cap casualty as we need to see if Zboril truly an NHL d-man, or a lost cause. But either way, i think he needs a lineup spot to prove himself, and more than 2 game stretches to get his feet under him.
This is a weak top 6, and a flooded bottom 6 roster. We'll need someone like Lauko, Geekie, Frederic to step up in to that role. I think the 3 each see some time in a top-6 role this year.
Megna, Richard and Brown i think will end up buried in AHL in more leadership type roles.

Merkulov, McLaughlin, Walsh i think closest to NHL ready, and could fight for a spot out of camp.
Lysell, Lohrei, Poitras, Beecher, Turcotte still need at least this coming year in Providence. Let them run the show in prominent roles

TDL pieces if we're outside of a playoff spot - Gryz, Arvidsson, Shattenkirk, JVR, maybe even Marchy or Debrusk if we can't agree to an extension (6x5/6?)

I think this is a year looking at the east where we're a wildcard team with this roster.

Trades
1.
BOS
  1. Arvidsson, Viktor
  2. Copley, Pheonix
  3. Turcotte, Alex
Additional Details:
Copley since he doesn't have an NTC unless Talbot agrees to waive for BOS (Copley/Talbot interchangeable at that point, just cap dump)

Arvidsson i'm not sure what to add on for him, maybe a middle-6 prospect like Harrison? (big C, maybe 2yrs away) but also needed just for cap out of LA. If want to add a 3rd team to take Arvidsson deal that's fine

Turcotte really the big piece here. I think maybe a change of scenery for him brings out potential, and LA farm system is just so good, i think he stays buried. If too high on Turcotte, maybe swap for Pinelli?
LAK
  1. Harrison, Brett
  2. Ullmark, Linus
Additional Details:
we really dpn't have any draft capital and LA system just too deep, i'm not sure what they'd even have any interest in to add on additionally. I'm sure LA wouldn't be on Ully's no-trade. I think they have a chance to make the playoffs this year if can sure up a few things
2.
BOS
  1. Vaakanainen, Urho
  2. 2024 6th round pick (ANA)
Additional Details:
trade is for either Vaaks, or a 6th, NOT BOTH.
historically these two are common trade partners, so i see it working out again this again.

I think ANA in a good spot for futures, so i doubt they'll even notice a missing 6th rounder
ANA
  1. Forbort, Derek
Additional Details:
i know Monty loves Forbort, and has more value to BOS than probably a different team, but i think Zboril needs this last contract year in a full time role. This makes us a bit weaker, but seemingly needs to happen

well aware, but to relieve 3m in cap we'll need to either take him or that 6th, whatever ANA chooses. Prevents us from burying him in the AHL at 1,150,000 cap hit or paying to move him

I don’t think Anaheim will pay for Forbort.
