Except there is nothing to support Murray is qualified to go on LTIR. So a buy out requires almost 700,00 for him. Now if by some chance Murray is able to be put on LTIR before the season starts, what does Toronto do if he gets cleared to play part way into the season? And that defense as posted is not anywhere near Stanley Cup contender quality. Using Muzzin on LTIR means there is no accrual of salary through the season, so team, as is constructed today, is limited on what they will be able to do in season for trades. And using a 20 man roster. Yes, everything looks great, if you bet money on another early round knock out.

Buy out Murray, sell Jarnkrok for a pick or two and add two $1 million forwards and you're fine, with a 21-man roster.
