They are on shorter contracts and could create some value for them if they have a rebound season. It’s a win nonetheless for San José since they don’t have to retain, helps Erik Karlsson join a contender and last but not least enables them to be bad and give them a shot at the nr 1 selection in 2024
Granlund is reportedly being bought out, He was placed on waivers yesterday for a buyout per Elliotte Friedman.
Zero chance of either Jeff Carter or Jeff Petry waiving for San Jose. Both trades are delusional and not happening.
I haven't found where Friedman said that. I only found what he said on Friday....
"I’ve had a couple of people just say, ‘Keep an eye this weekend. There’s going to be an attempt to see if it can get closed.’ Now, we’ve been here before,” said Friedman on the NHL Network. “I don’t want to be the bringer of false alarms or false panic. Let’s just say (there is) noise on the radar, or sonar, to keep an eye out this weekend.”
Plus there's no mention of Granlund being placed on waivers per Cap Friendly.
