Description
1. NYLANDER, 4TH, 5TH / BORTUZZO, BUCHNEVICH, 2ND
Pavel Buchnevich is one of the most underrated players in the league. He's been scoring at a point per game pace for the last couple of seasons. Last season Craig Berube even put him at center and it was fine for everyone. Being able to play center gives Buchnevich a little advantage over Nylander. The Swede has a higher ceiling though, but so do his contract demands as his deal expires next summer unlike that of Buchnevich. Robert Bortuzzo is thrown here for cap reasons as St. Louis doesn't have the cap space for Nylander and has to unload a sub-million AAV contract. The Blues could waive/trade him themselves without asking Toronto, doesn't really matter

2. BORTUZZO / NOTHING
As said above, Toronto doesn't need Robert Bortuzzo. Bye Bobby

3. KAMPF / 3RD
David Kampf is good, but a 4C getting paid that kind of money is not good, just ask NYR fans about Barclay Goodrow's contract. Pontus Holmberg has to be developed anyway so he gets his chance. If he fails, then put Lafferty at 4C and another winger to the left of him (Holmberg can't play wing). Oh, wait...

4. GAMBRELL / SANFORD
Toronto doesn't have extra wingers to cover for Holmberg. And Dylan Gambrell brings nothing to the team. Trading him for a winger like Zach Sanford makes sense. Sanford also gets his chance to prove everyone he's not done in the NHL (probably)

What’s sad is Robertson and a 2nd probably would have got it done a few years ago 😂.

So you traded Nylander for Buchnevic and a 2nd? I am confused , why would Toronto do that?
