Description
Line 1:He may not be the perfect first complementary piece on the first line but you gotta showcase Monahan as much as humanly possible to increase his value.
Line 2: See if RHP can keep scoring at last year's pace, he at least deserves a top 6 shot to begin the year.
Line 3: The kid line. Although they're both young, Ylonen and Newhook have experience to help Slaf. Ylonen has grinded his way up and can be an excellent playmaker for this line and Newhook's forecheck underrated. As a third line they'll face lesser competition which should ease their defensive load.
Line 4: Have to play Dvorak and Gallagher somewhere, this line obviously isn't the typical 6 minutes per game grinder but it will help to roll with all 4 lines on a daily basis. Lowering Gallagher's TOI might be the solution to keeping him healthy for the remainder of his contract.

If the team really wants to keep Wideman around I guess they can send a rookie down but to me he's expandable and could be waived or traded for picks just like DeSmith. I love Wideman as a veteran for kids so I'm convinced a team would want him.

RHP cant keep his insane shooting%. He's a bottom 6 energy guy.

Newhook should take his place, has both Dach and him are bad at faceoffs. At least, if you put two 40% centers togheter, the 1st can cheat a little and the 2nd can cover for him if he get chased from the dots.

Dvo is the best faceoffs guy on the team and a perfect reponsable 3C.

Finnally, giving less TOI to Gally makes sense. Giving him under 10 minutes on a 4th line doesnt.

-RHP likely can't keep it up but he showed enough good stuff to warrant a shot at big minutes.
-Problem with Newhook is that Colorado traded him away because he wasn't meeting expectations as a top 6 guy so putting him as a top 6 guy from game 1 will just result in more of the same. Plugging him as a 3C to begin the journey will help him gain confidence and I don't think we traded a 1st and a high 2nd not to even try him at center.
-Gally gets 10-11 on a fourth plus PK time and maybe some PP2 minutes as a net presence so around 12-14 a night, perfect for him.

Very hard to agree with any of this.

-It isnt just "likely" RHP shooting % goes down, it's obvious since he was at 24% (McDavid was at 18%) and he was never a high scoring player at any point in his career. Half a season's performance for a bottom feeding team doesn't make him a top 6 foward.

-in Colorado, Newhook wasnt meeting expectations at center specifically, again because his win% on faceoffs is very bad. Trade value has nothing to do with this. Dach was traded for a similar return and started at wing didn't he? Players don't gain confidence being destroyed in faceoffs circles in game situations. They work on in at practices.

-Gally never played PK and will never do succesfully since he's small and slow...also, blocking shots on the PK wouldn't be the best strategy to keep him healthy... I can't understand why you would think it could be a good idea.
