Description
I still feel that there is more to the VGK expansion (TVR/Kruger) deal. I find it hard to believe that the Hawks and Canes couldn't come to deal with either TVR or Kruger prior to or after the Expansion Draft especially considering they have been frequent trade partners in the last 3 years. Hopefully this is the final part. Or maybe a different D from Vegas' plethora.

Franson signs as the 3rd pairing RHD that the Hawks are so blatantly missing.
The Hawks will have plenty of choices for the two LHD spots behind Keith. IMO Merrill and Kempny would be the ones to win out with Oesterle being right there. Unless Forsling took a good jump from last year I think he starts in Rockford. I wasn't impressed by him last year but he was only 20 and hopefully developed a lot over last year.

This would be my guess for an opening night roster. However I'd like to see Fortin, Dauphin, and DeBrincat get some ice time early in the season and then be sent down to Rockford for pro experience.

I never thought about this, but you are so right in so many ways. I figured the future considerations were just something to say. But not that you say something, that would make so much sense. Probably not Merril, but most likely someone like Garrison/Sbisa near the trade deadline. I like you thought process on this, and I'm gonna make a team of my own through this idea.

Problem is Carolina would have had to expose two more players to Vegas if they made the deal with Chicago and that wasn't happening. Maybe they could have fit one guy, but no way both.

I would be hesitant to take either of those players due to their large cap hits and extremely poor career possession statistics. But it is definitely a possibility.

Wasn't referring to both. The Hawks couldn't have traded both because they still needed to meet the minimum requirements for the draft. But if Carolina wanted TVR they could have easily got him from the Hawks for a 2nd and protected him at the draft. Then Vegas has to take either Kruger, Tootoo, Roszival, Pokka or Glass.
It's not even debatable that TVR is more valuable than Trevor Carrick or Brock McGinn. Two players of which the Canes protected at the draft.
If Vegas doesn't take Kruger then the Hawks trade him to the Canes for a 5th.

The whole Vegas-Chicago expansion draft situation leaves me dumbfounded. Poor management if the Hawks are receiving nothing from this.
