Too much, Carolina hate moving 1sts for rentals. They pick up bargain bin guys. Vatanen, Domi, Gostisbehere. It'll probably be something like Drury and a a 3rd if it is going to happen, although it's probably fair at Drury and the Canes 2nd. Don't let Ennis tell you it's an underpay or fair value. Dude loves to overhype the Canadian teams.

Paying a 1st for a rental is well outside of “sounds like waddell.” We haven’t paid more than a 3rd rounder and a meh prospect for a rental.

If you'll read the discription, you'll notice I'm strictly talking about acquiring Backlund and him being a good fit in the canes lineup/playstyle. Value debates on players grow more and more irritating by the day on this site, so I chose to leave that out of the forefront
