Description

With the leafs maybe going 11-7 with a 20 man roster to start the season. This is most likely their lineup. Willie practicing at center gives the leafs 4 guys who can fill in on the 4th line with Domi as the 5th guy. So using them throughout the game makes sense and doesn't burnout the regular centers. That is my take on Willie playing center in the preseason. Everyone has their opinions, time will tell.

Willie is playing centre because sooner rather than later, JT won’t be suitable for playing 2C. Not that JT will be a bad player, but his decline in speed will prevent him from playing the position. Ideally, he would have already moved to the wing by now where he would likely be much more effective.

I’ve been preaching for Nylander to make the switch to centre for a while now. He’s such an incredible player, and I think he can adjust if given a decent amount of time at the position. Not having to find a replacement for 2C could extend our cup window for several years.
