Anderson-Dolan seems like the play here but I’m not sure they’ll do it. Aston-Reese isn’t too bad either.

ZAR is probably your Best Option there as a 4LW (I wanted him from the get go) and maybe Anderson-Dolan as a potential 4C (always nice to bring a guy home too)

Sanford just doesn’t seem to be the player he was and the rest of those guys don’t seem to be a fit or bring anything we don’t already have

Guys I’d consider as well are Patrick Brown (Big Physical Veteran Right Shot 4C), AJ Greer (Young Lucic Wannabe) and Lane Pederson (Good at Faceoffs and might play even harder/better for us against EDM)

That said, Paul Stastny is still the absolute best option for the 4C/LW opening imo

Calle Rosén & Simon Benoit are interesting, but Oesterle & Gilbert likely already bring much of what they would already and there’s no need for Big Bad Zach Bogosian to play 3RD beside Zadorov either, hey!?

I like Hinostroza's game so I included him. I do think JAD is a very ideal target out of the whole list though.

Sanford has had injuries but I think he's still NHL capable. Very physical player. Also Patrick Brown is 5'11, he's more like Coleman in that regard.

I would probably claim Lavoie before Pederson. But neither is a great bet. We should not claim anyone without relevant NHL experience.

We can't place either of Oesterle or Gilbert on waivers until after the season starts so claiming a defenseman would be kind of silly at this point.

Yes, Patrick Brown is Coleman’s Size & Physicality, plays Centre and has a Right Shot, but he’s supposedly a slower skater. Is a Right Shot 4C a need at all!? I don’t think so, but winning Faceoffs in our own zone and on the PK is important to me and he’s pretty good at it. It allows us to clear the puck quickly more easily. I like JAD’s age, size, physicality, FaceOff % and fact he’s from Calgary, so other than Paul Stastny, he’d be my pick to bring in for a 4C/13th/14th

ZAR, Dryden Hunt & AJ Greer would be considerations for the 4LW/13th/14th spot. They are all very active body checkers with proven scoring ability at lower levels. Greer is supposedly a bit slower, but has a larger, more punishing frame and he’d be another Quebecois in to the locker room for Huberdeau and he can will offer more Intimidation and Enforcement Hunt is a Calgarian and both he & ZAR can assist with Penalty Killing. I’d take Greer over Sanford, but I’d take ZAR & Hunt over both I think

The Flames current need is at 4C or 4LW, right!? I think they’re offensively talented players, but I don’t see the need for Hinostroza or Lavoie. They don’t seem like 4th line players or guys who are any better than Schwindt, Klapka, Zary or MEP

Why can’t we waive Gilbert or Oesterle till the season starts!? Not that I want too, but what’s the rule there!?

Rosters have to be submitted by 5pm EST of October the 9th. To send someone who isn't exempt to the minors they have to be placed on waivers the previous day and don't pass through until 2pm EST the next day. Ergo we can't place anyone on waivers before roster submission now.
