Garland traded

SJ is not looking to take on worse contracts in order to get a better player. They literally just traded their star player in order to get out of a bad cap commitment.

I actually like Garland, but his contract wouldn't make sense for the Sharks to take on without Vancouver retaining a portion of his salary or attaching a pick to compensate. If the Canucks are willing to retain 1.5M, then I think the Sharks would consider this. However, with Musty and Gushchin in our farm system, Garland would only take a spot from them in the bigs. Overall, I don't think our team would make a lot of sense for Garland to be traded to at this time.

Sharks can simply just not re-sign Labanc and then spend that money on a better player than Garland in UFA. Senseless trade for SJ

Garland on that deal makes no sense for SJ. To move him you going ot have to retain or take back a bad deal

I see where you're coming from but with the cap going up. I think players of Garland's ilk will be right at his cap hit. And then how many FAs want to go to SJ in this moment.
