I like this and agree that Jensen / Kuzy would make sense to go.

Small thoughts:
1. I could see McM getting a little less (and more of a bridge deal)
2. I am hoping Iorio can take that 3RD role, but so far this season, he has been inconsistent in Hershey (imo)
3. Imagine if Oshie retires as well....that is a lot of space to retool on the fly for the Caps
4. I could see the Caps using the extra cap space from Backy at the TDL this year to take on contracts for extra picks/assets. I know this is for next year, but just something to monitor

I originally was big on the idea of Iorio taking on the 3RD role, but I just worry that there will be a lack of physicality / defensive net-front presence in that case. One of the biggest issues the caps have is being pushovers in their own slot. I will admit I don't know everything about Zadorov's game, but I know he is very physical and I hope that he would bring that to the front of the net, too.

McMichael may get less if his scoring doesn't pick up. If he pots 20G 30A this season (which I do actually think is still possible when the team offense picks up) I'd be more than happy with this deal. 3M per may be more realistic.

Agreed on both points about Oshie and cap space, too. Getting a second rounder for 24 or something else would be nice depending on what the caps are willing to take on. Anything with significant cap AND term though would be a no. They should be able to bounce back and be competitive next year if they use their cap space and their young guys. I still wouldn't throw out this season especially after being 4-1-0 in the last 5 games. If they're able to add another young piece to the top 9, that could change their projection for this season and next.

Agreed on all points - well said.

I should have been more clear - regarding the cap space, yes, anything that has term should be a no. I do see 2024-2025 as the Caps "final" year with this core to compete. Push for that
