Description
I would hate for anything more than this to happen, I think that the team is in a solid position right now, and does not need to do much, but some help on the blue line would be the only thing we should be looking at. This is essentially a cap trade where we are trading stability for volatility but these come with short and long term cap implications. I think Peeke has what it takes to be a solid #4-5 where we would at that point have QH, FH, IC, AP making up our top 4, we could sign bear if we wanted, he would be an upgrade on Myers who was great as a 3rd pair defender in the last 2 games but should not be elevated from that.

I know that we are over the 23 man roster, we can always send someone down

It'll be interesting to see who they move (if they do). Peeke has played 1 game on the season, unable to crack the lineup on a sub-par team. At what point does having that contract/term sitting in the press box start to lower his trade value (which probably wasn't a ton to start with)?

I'm not saying Beauvillier is a fit for the Jackets, but he could easily be shipped out for a pick at the deadline with some retention. I'm not sure the same can be said for Peeke if he continues to sit. Personally I hope VAN steers clear of him. If they're going to give up anything of value for a CBJ defender I'd rather they target the potential upside of Boqvist.

It's also feasible that he's sitting in order to not get hurt before he's traded, as the CBJ did last year with Gavrikov.

Beavillier could be traded, but no trade in the NHL is done easily. Teams have options and a GM would be foolish to take on a player they don't need or can't fit on the roster with the hope of flipping them. I know it's been done, but it's really not that common, and when it does happen it's usually quick because the second trade was already set up. If VAN retains 50% of his cap, then maybe Jarmo figures out a second trade to send him out right away, but they definitely aren't keeping another forward when they are already scratching KJ and Marchenko periodically due to having too many guys.

See I think that your Peeke theory would stand if he was 30 games into the season, but if he has only played one game, that would hurt his value. Beauviller is not a great player and has disappointed this year, but he hasn’t been a healthy scratch, so for that I think that their values are even but I understand if we put differing values on things like this
