John Klignberg declines. My belief is Toronto will need to find a 3rd team to broker a deal here who will take either Klingberg or Bertuzzi’s salary where they accept going to. They have too many NMC’s

Klingberg has a 10 team no trade list and leaf’s can get him to waive it or threaten to waive him and send him to the minors anyways leaf’s decline this deal way too much to give up for a couple of ufas

It's too much for two expiring deals. All things point to Minten being valued the same or better than a late first round pick (by the Leafs anyways), so that's effectively 2 1st's, Lilly, and middle prospect for Calgary to take on some money. Zadorov is worth a 3rd rounder, maybe a 2nd with retention. With Tanev's injury history, I doubt they even get a 1st for him. Maybe a 2nd + Abruzzese-like prospect. Upgrade the prospect a bit for some retention, but no way Lilly is in a deal like that.

Sub out either one for Hanifin and that's close.

It’s a safe bet that Calgary is on it and Toronto doesn’t have the depth to make that threat if they haven’t made this trade.

All I’m saying is you need to find a third team if Klingberg or Bertuzzi are your mechanisms to manage the cap. Nothing more.

It has been reported that Abruzzese is valued higher than the leafs first by calgary.
