Trades
1.
DAL
  1. Rasmussen, Michael
Additional Details:
Why does Detroit do this? They get an upgrade for their 4th line centre position. Faksa is good penalty killer and good at faceoffs. Faksa is overpaid right now but with the little bit of retention, value for cap hit is a lot more reasonable.
DET
  1. Faksa, Radek ($650,000 retained)
  2. Stranges, Antonio
  3. 2025 5th round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
This deal is made so Dallas can save cap space to add a player like Tanev without having to send out Hakanpaa.
Rasmussen can replace what Faksa brings but for cheaper. He hasn't played that well in Lalonde's system but could excel in Dallas. Dallas also gets the younger player who is still developing. I believe they are a well rounded enough team that losing Faksa for Ras won't be noticed that much compared to the upgrade on defense Tanev could bring.
In order for it to be worth while for Detroit, there has to be a bit of cap savings on Faksa. Stranges and a 5th next year for a bit of added value to Detroit.
Dallas saves 1.14M in cap space this season. Rasmussen could likely be re-signed for a similar cap hit.
2.
DAL
  1. Tanev, Christopher ($2,250,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Dallas adds to their defense by acquiring Tanev. Not only will he make their defense better but he could be a good mentor and partner for Harley and if he re-signs in Dallas then Bischel in the future.
I would expect his extension, if he chooses to sign one, would come in at about 3.25 x 2 years.
CGY
  1. Bar, Jack [Reserve List]
  2. 2024 1st round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
A 1st and prospect might be a bit rich but I expect there to be quite a few teams interested in his services.
By moving out Faksa, they can keep Hakanpaa and Lundkvist on the team.

Detroit would probably rather keep Rasmussen than to marginally upgrade their depth.
Probably would rather picks considering Kasper and Danielson.

I don't think Kasper or Danielson get fourth line minutes, not worth it really for them. I would like to see Danielson on the team next season, Kasper might spend one more in GR. Also if you look at Faksa's numbers, it's a bit more than a marginal upgrade. Also where do we see Ras in the future? With Mazar, Soda, Kasper, Danielson and more going to be pushing for spots, there is a good chance he is not in the top 6 let alone top 9. That's why I went after someone who is that perfect fourth line centre, even though he's a bit expensive.

Fair. I was moreso expecting Veleno to get depthed out to 4C, though. If it's for this season, I guess? Rasmussen is having a horrible year, but I don't doubt he'll find his way back into his groove.

I don't hate waiting and holding onto to him but how much patience is left for him? I'm personally kind of over him this year.

My thing is that he looked really good last year before his injury undoubtedly shook him. But, point is I don't see anything beneficial for a lateral player; I imagine picks would be preferred.
